Hands up if you love a podcast! Well, if you are involved in the Vet profession there is a good chance you will love a Veterinary podcast and thankfully there are many to choose from. We have rounded up what we think are the current best Veterinary podcasts.
Podcasts are rapidly increasing in popularity again and rightly so, they are great for popping on during your commute or even at the gym. You can find a podcast on pretty much anything now, from business growth to theme parks, even podcast series focusing on mental health. But for this article, we want to focus on some of the great Veterinary Podcasts currently airing.
(However, if you are looking for a laugh after a long and tiring day – we will point you in the direction of My Dad Wrote a Porno)
Remember, listening to clinical podcasts can also be included as part of your CPD – so be sure to log them.
Be sure to check out our post where we have also collated all of the free Veterinary Nurse CPD currently available.
The Best Veterinary Podcasts
The Veterinary Thought Exchange/ VTX Podcast
The Veterinary Thought Exchange (VTX) was founded in 2019 by RCVS and EBVS Veterinary Specialists Scott Kilpatrick and Liz Bode. The podcast is also part of a wider CPD company aimed at both Vets and Nurses.
We love this podcast for the mixture of both clinical discussion as well as real-life industry chat. The hosts are personable, engaging and it all just flows really well. We love the variety of guests on the show as well as the wide range of topics covered and thoughts initiated.
The VTX podcast is always our first go-to for a new episode.
The Veterinary Rehabilitation Podcast
The Veterinary Rehabilitation Podcast is the brainchild of the Online Pet Health Community – while it is predominately aimed at Veterinary physiotherapists and hydrotherapists, everyone in the industry will benefit from their clinical episodes discussing rehabilitation.
Episodes range from interviews with rehabbers to business help and to a clinical focus on a certain condition. If you are a Veterinary Nurse with an interest or looking to move into the rehab side of our industry you will want to subscribe to this podcast.
The Vet Vault Podcast
The first thing we have to say about The Vet Vault is that we LOVE the enthusiasm of these hosts! Their love and passion for Veterinary Medicine shine through in each episode.
The podcast is split into two – details of each can be found below.
In the Vet Vault Thrive podcast, we dive deep with some of the most inspiring and energised people in and around the vet profession to unlock the tips, tools, and inspiration for making veterinary science work for you. Gerardo and Hubert are on a mission to unstitch the veterinary profession and all of its quirks in this thought-provoking, stimulating, and entertaining podcast.
In the Vet Vault Clinical podcasts, we pick the brains of world-class specialists in small animal medicine, surgery, and emergency and critical care to find all the insights, updates, tips, and pitfalls that you need to lift your clinical knowledge to new levels. Three episodes per week. No lectures – just the stuff you need to know for better patient outcomes and to improve your clinical confidence.
Honestly, we just adore this podcast series.
Radio Vet Nurse Podcast
The Radio Vet Nurse Podcast has actually been on quite a long hiatus – however, there are rumours it will be back soon. Until then there is a ton of past episodes to listen to.
Radio Vet Nurse is a long form interview show creating a dialogue around these questions and a space where we can tell our story. In each episode, you’ll hear from a different vet nurse about their experiences in life and in vet nursing as host Cat Walker asks questions about everything from how they got their start in vet nursing to wellness strategies.
This is currently one of the only dedicated Vet Nurse podcast series and it is great for those looking for inspiration within the profession. We cannot wait for new episodes!
Veterinary Ramblings
If you need a laugh at the end of a long day – subscribe to this Vet podcast. It never fails to make us belly laugh by taking a light-hearted look at the Veterinary World. Again, it features interview-style episodes with a wide range of people within the industry but it just hits differently and takes a different approach to the other series currently available.
If you need further convincing, here is how the hosts describe it – ‘Veterinary Ramblings is like going for a drink with your favourite work colleagues after a long day – we’ll make you laugh, inspire you and perhaps teach you something new‘
Let’s Travel – Vet Med Style
Let’s Travel Vet Med Style is the creation of Vet Nurse Lucy Taylor and Vet Tech Amber LaRock. It gives a fantastic insight into using your Veterinary skills abroad and how your Veterinary passport can take you global.
The episodes are both informative and inspiring and will make you want to pack your suitcase as soon as possible. One of our favourite episodes is Episode 12: Life In The Gambia With Mils – who if you are not following on Instagram, you definitely should be.
We hope you now have a ton of top Veterinary Podcasts to add to your playlist – they are a great way of finding a new involvement within the industry or sparking new inspiration. If you know of any great one we have not included then please get in contact to let us know.
